You all are familiar with the taste of the original Dahi Wada recipe.. But here, I have come up with a healthy twist in the traditional dahi vada recipe which is way healthier than the original one. You can have it without any fear of gaining weight as the vadas in it are steamed and not deep fried so enjoy it to the fullest.


  1. Grind the urad daal and moong daal.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add asafoetida, ginger, and salt to it and mix well.
  3. Grease an idli maker with some oil.
  4. Take one spoon of the mixture and spread it on one level of the idli stand. Level the mixture with the back of a spoon
  5. Place the idli stand in a pressure cooker and cook for 10 minutes without the whistle.
  6. Let the vadas cool. Place them in four bowls.
  7. Add two to three teaspoons of yogurt.
  8. Top with coriander chutney and sweet tamarind chutney.
  9. Sprinkle roasted cumin powder on top.
  10. Garnish with coriander leaves.



  • Urad daal – 20 gms (soaked for 4 hours)
  • Moong daal – 20 gms (soaked for 4 hours)
  • Ginger – 1 small piece (grated)
  • Asafoetida – A pinch
  • Salt – As per taste



  • Yogurt – 1 cup
  • Pink Himalayan salt – ½ tsp
  • Red chili powder – ¼ tsp
  • Coriander leaves – handful finely chopped
  • Roasted cumin powder – ½ tsp
  • Salt – As per taste
  • Sweet tamarind chutney – 1 tbsp
  • Dhaniya chutney – 1 tbsp
  • Oil – to grease
