This authentic Indian recipe is a perfect mélange of Southern spices and rava. Cooked to perfection and seasoned with aromatic curry leaves and spices. It makes for a perfect breakfast and snack recipe, which can be relished anytime of the day. It is the easiest thing to prepare, when you are not in a mood to make something elaborate and exotic. This rava idli is a breakfast food made with semolina, curd and basic spices. These soft, fluffy rava idli are great to enjoy with sambar and mint chutney…!!!!!


  • Take a pan and add little oil. Season with mustard seeds and curry leaves. Then add chana dal, urad dal and green chillies. After 5 minutes add grated carrot and cook for 7-8 minutes.
  • Now add rava and fry till light golden . remove from flame and let it cool.
  • Once it cools down add curd and salt. Mix well and keep it aside for 20-30 minutes. Then add some water and mix again.
  • Grease an idli plate and pour batter. Steam for about 5-6 minutes or until its done.
  • Serve hot with sambar and mint chutney.




  • Rava- 30 gms
  • Chana dal- ½  tsp
  • Urad dal- ½ tsp
  • Green chillies- 3 (finely chopped)
  • Carrot- 25 gms (grated)
  • Curd- 3 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds- ¼ tsp
  • Curry leaves- 5-6
  • Oil- 1 tsp
  • Water- as required
  • Salt- as per taste
