Pulav with Barley

This pulav made with barley is no low in calorie and have many nutritional benfits. Barley is heart healthy and it helps manage blood pressure. It a rich source of manganese and selenium. It also promotes healthy bone. Vegetables used in this recipe are low in calorie and helps in weight loss. Also vegetables are good and important source


  1. In a vessel heat the oil.
  2. Then add the onions and barley and until the onion is softened.
  3. Put all the spices and carrot and mix well.
  4. Pour the vegetable stock and mix well and let it cook for 4-5 min.  
  5. Cover with lid, and reduce the heat and cook for about 30 to 40 minutes until barley is cooked.
  6. Serve hot


Barley - 3 tbsp

Onion, diced - ¼ cup

Curry powder - ¼ tsp

Ground turmeric - ½ tsp

Garam masala - ½ tsp

Vegetable stock - 1 cup

Chopped carrot-10gms

Ground black pepper - ½ tsp

Oil - 1/2 tsp

Salt to taste
