A nutritious heaven, palak dal khichdi is an easy and quick recipe loaded with nutrients without compromising on the taste. One of the best comfort food during monsoon, this khichdi recipes is a perfect balance of carbohydrates and protein. Goodness of spinach and dal cooked with spices from red chilli to curry leaves comes together for the perfect wholesome meal!!!


  • Soak rice in water for 15 minutes and wash the dal to 2-3 times in water.
  • Take pressure cooker and pour oil in it. Once the oil heats, add mustard seeds, cumin, curry leaves, ginger garlic paste and saute it well.
  • Add finely chopped tomatoes and onion, green chilli and let it cook.
  • Now add turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilli powder and salt to it and saute it well.
  • Add dal, rice and water. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes then add chopped spinach, mix well and close the lid of the pressure cooker.
  • Allow it to cook for 10-12 minutes. After 2 whistles remove the khichdi from the pressure cooker and serve hot with curd or raita.


  • Brown rice- 30 gms
  • Moong dal- 15 gms
  • Spinach- 50 gms (chopped)
  • Onion- 25 gms (chopped
  • Tomato- 25 gms (chopped)
  • Cumin seeds- ½ tsp
  • Mustard seeds- ¼ tsp
  • Coriander powder- ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
  • Red chilli powder- ¼ tsp
  • Curry leaves- 6-7
  • Ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
  • Green chilli- 1 (finely chopped)
  • Water- as required
  • Oil- 1 tsp
  • Salt- as per taste
