Moong dal includes a good amount of protein and fiber. The fiber content in moong dal makes us feel fuller for a long that helps in reducing the intake of food often. This soup is an excellent recipe for weight watchers. Moong dal and vegetables together provide a good amount of fiber that keep us fuller and energetic for a long time. you can replace the heavy carbs based meal with this healthy soup.



  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add chopped ginger, garlic and saute till the color changes to golden brown.
  • Add chopped onion and cook until onion becomes soft.
  • Add chopped carrot, spinach and cook for sometimes.
  • Add moong dal, water, salt and mix well.
  • Close the lid and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
  • Open the lid, add water and bring the soup to desired consistency. Bring the soup to a boil, season with black pepper powder and serve warm.




  • Moong dal- 30 gms
  • Carrots- 25 gms (chopped)
  • Spinach- 50 gms
  • Garlic- 1 tbsp (chopped)
  • Ginger- ¾ tsp (chopped)
  • Onion- 25 gms (chopped)
  • Black pepper powder- ½ tsp
  • Oil- 1 tsp
  • Salt- as per taste
