I can bet that you might have, never had such healthy and tasty khichdi.  The rice for this khichdi is chia seeds and chia seeds have lots of health benefits. It helps to curb hunger and suppresses appetite which eventually leads to weight loss. It helps to treat diabetes and also boost energy and metabolism. It helps in health growth of bones and muscles too.   


  • Soak the chia seeds for about 1 hr.
  • Heat the pan and add ghee, cloves, cumin seeds, bay leaf, asafeotida, ginger, garlic, salt, green chilies and turmeric powder.
  • Sauté for few minutes and add cabbage and spinach.
  • Sauté it for about 5 min.
  • Now add chia seeds and water accordingly.
  • Let it boil for few minutes.
  • Add curd and stir continuously.
  • Cook for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Serve hot and enjoy.


Chia seeds – 1tbsp

Bay leaf – ½

Cloves – 1no

Garlic – 1tsp

Ginger – ½ tsp

Asafoetida  – ½ tsp

Cabbage – 20g, finely chopped

Spinach – 20g, finely chopped

Curd – 1tbsp

Water – 1cup

Green chilies – ½ tsp

Cumin seeds – ½ tsp

Turmeric – ½ tsp

Ghee – ½ tbsp

Salt – to taste
