PCOS also known as polycystic ovarian syndrome has become very common amongst females in today’s world. The exact cause of PCOS is not known and most of the experts attribute it to the lifestyle we have adopted. Hectic work life, stress, pollution, fast and processed foods, etc. are the main causes of PCOS.

2. Balanced carbohydrate intake throughout the day. Stop that sugar that you are having. Keep the carbs balanced and to the minimum throughout the day.
 3. Do not skip meals. Try not to let more than four to five hours go between meals/snacks to maintain stable blood sugars. 
4. Gradually increase intake of high fiber. Have that bowl of oats for breakfast. It will help!
 5. Emphasize lean protein foods .Try to include protein with most meals and snacks. 
6. Consume about 25 to 30% of calories as fat – emphasizing low saturated fat foods and increased monounsaturated and omega-3 fatty acid food choices. Avoid foods containing trans fats.
 7. Include two to three servings of low fat dairy foods per day, such as skim or 1% milk, yogurt, lite cheese, cottage cheese etc. 
8. Some super foods will help. Take a teaspoon of cinnamon powder daily.
 9. Vitamin D deficiency can be a problem.  If you have the deficiency, start the supplements.
10. Control portions, especially from restaurants or fast food places. Do not go overboard while eating.
